Study break and playing pretend

In the chaotic delirium of my last week of school, I sometimes like to play pretend to keep my "sanity."  This is in quotes because honestly, I ask, does anyone really have "sanity" to hold on to during finals week?  I spent today exposing my multiple personalities of my favorite skirt as a little break for my friends' amusement at my expense. Anyway the inspirations of the day....

The little mermaid.....twirling myself seasick...hahahahha. Ha. ha...

I've also been told this looks like a hula skirt from far away.

So practice I may, my mad dance skills...Oh and talking while my picture is being taken, that happens too. I think I was talking about my furiousness of the fact that the song "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette really has no real examples of irony in it, and that's been bothering me all day, yet I continue to listen to it. Homegirl needs a dictionary. I digress.

And in honor of the Royal Wedding, in which I am soooo excited about, I've been practicing what I will do when I meet the couple, because I'm invited, duh. Right from the comfort of my own living room.

And curtsy. How do you do? And where might I find Prince Harry? Last time I checked, he still had a visible hairline.

Ahh and my cat eyes inspired by Marilyn, my all time favorite! I think she just realized she forgot a bra in this picture.

What do you think I'm looking at? Ok, ok I'll tell, it's my unfinished project, yet again, in class
                                                   taking pictures and procrastinating.

Funfetti, barbie, and glitter

So a few days ago I ventured into the wild world of baking to make a cake for my roommate Erin's bday.

While making it from a Pillsbury box "scratch" I got inspired by the funfetti decorations to paint my nails!  Along with the funfetti, another of my favorite inspirations, BARBIE!!
Pink, and glitter, and unicorns, and shoes, and everything little girls, Lady Gaga, and I love.

Now tuck in your lady boner, my nails aren't this nice...

I Wish I was talented enough to do this, but alas...glitter and chode-like sausage fingers are all I got.

and my poor toe, still recovering, but happy to be in heels again!!

My favorites: DVF blouse and curb stomping boots

This post is in honor of my favorites (of which I have many). Today though, features my vintage Diane Von Furstenburg blouse, which includes shoulder pads and buttons in the front and the back.

The other amazing part is that I scored it for $10.

Note my carefully painted, partially bitten malibu green painted half moons. So many accessories on it's wearing my arm down.
My other favorite is my pair curb stomping boots.

Oh, and yes this is my classroom, I'm taking pics instead, I'm not that good at sewing....

I'm waterproof!

So today, because of this shitty amazing Michigan weather, in which I never see the sun, I need to
create my own little bit of sunshine. Aka big bird yellow.

So today my inspiration was Sesame Street characters and.... waterproof everything.

Because if I get wet, this is what happens....

This is my reaction because my face melts and my hair looks like this....

And not in a cute, Carrie Bradshaw way.  In an uncomfortable, make-my-face-sweat-poodle way.
So I present you with my I-never-get-wet-when-I'm-wearing-this outfit.

No wicked bitch witch in this wetsuit.  I could probably go scuba diving in it.
And below, my tribute to Marc Jacobs, for keeping me happy and as dry as an 80 year old Martha Stewart!

Ps- found this song the other day to totally describe feelings of a rainy day, "I can't stand the rain." check it homes- good luck staying dry.

A lesson in prep

If you know me, you know that my style is the furthest away from prep as possible.  BUTTTT inspired by my roommate Erin "Roxy" and afternoon cocktails, I decided to put my own spin on it.
So inspiration....

This is Erin...dying laughing at the fact I'm trying to be preppy- she's also estatic I'm finally taking her picture.

Note the bottle of almost year old iced tea Burnetts in the bottom left corner, left to bake in the sun.

WASP's in their finest...
Day drinking martinis.

Pearls.
Polos and sweaters in Easter pastels.
See? Look how happy they are.
Classy- pun intended.
Here's my attempt at being a studious prep...don't you see me typing on my imaginary computer?
And my phedophile smile?
Note the Ralph Lauren sweater/blazer con crest-mabob? Legit Prep.

Sidenote: Gladiator sandels: not so prep, but due to my recent toe mutation, I have been forced to wear flat open toe shoes.  Don't worry, I will be starting a toe support blog at a later date.

Sailors, stripes, and seniors - Oh my!

Today I was inspired by my fabulous grandmother , who obviously wore blue to an all black party.
What a rebel.

So I took her blue and pearls, some sailor stripes, and a bowtie..

Plus this dude's face...

Show me your Teeth

Today I'm inspired by the necklace my friend Megan picked up when we were on spring vaycay in Arizona.  We featured it on the Sada blog.

I'm also inspired by Gaga...as always...every second of my life.
Everyday.
It's unhealthy.

So here's my version...I D.I.Y-ed this with my 40% coupon at Jo-Anns.
Yes.
Saving Money.
Always in fashion.
